Steve has been an avid outdoorsman since getting involved with the Boy Scouts in 1981. He has hiked and camped most of the Appalachian Trail running through Pennsylvania and New Jersey, has navigated his way by canoe through the Algonquin National Forest in Canada, and climbs at Rick’s Rocks in New Jersey, Ralph Stover State Park, and the Shawangunk Mountains in New York. Steve is a health and physical educator and currently is a professor at Temple University.

He is a volunteer fire fighter and has several levels of training in ropes and high angle rescue through the fire service. Steve is also a certified first aid and CPR instructor for the community and is a professional rescuer, water safety instructor, and certified lifeguard. He has been an adventure ropes course facilitator for five years and has worked for Pine Forest Camp co-leading the camping and climbing trips.
